EU Open Health Forum 2010

The EU Open Health Forum 2010 takes pace in Brussels from 29 to 30 June 2010. Under the overall theme of Together for Health – a Strategy for the EU 2020 the conference will mark an important step towards strengthening the involvement of all stakeholders in contributing to the development and implementation of actions and activities to protect and improve the health of European citizens.

Tobacco Control Advocacy and Campaign Workshop

30 November 2009 - 1 December 2009

ECL (www.europeancancerleagues.org) and ENSP are organising a workshop with the Global Dialogue for Effective Stop Smoking Campaigns (www.stopsmokingcampaigns.org) on tobacco control advocacy and campaigning challenges in Europe. The 1.5 day workshop will take place in Brussels from 30 November to 1 December 2009 and is open to all interested in tobacco control, campaigning and advocacy tools (but closed to tobacco industry representatives). ECL and ENSP members can attend free of charge. Non-members pay €200 to offset organisational costs.

3rd Romanian Tobacco Control Conference

25 - 27 June 2009

Between June 25th and 27th, 2009 the European Network for Smoking Prevention (ENSP) will participate in the 3rd Romanian Tobacco Control Conference organised by the Romanian Society of Pneumology, in cooperation with Iasi Hospital of Pneumology and the University of Medicine and Pharmacy “Gr. T. Popa“ Iasi.

During the plenary session “EUROPEAN ACTUALITIES IN TOBACCOLOGY” chaired by Florence Berteletti Kemp (Smokefree Partnership) and Cornel Radu-Loghin (European Network for Smoking Prevention) the participants will learn about the latest issues on Tobacco Control at the European level.

This Conference will be a reference point for tobacco control in Romania, and an important opportunity for the health promotion sector to consider the latest research in tobacco control and to share strategies that aim to reduce smoking prevalence and extend smokefree environments in Romania.

European Federation of Allergy and Airways Diseases Patients’ Associations:

This year EFA’s annual conference is unique as it is run simultaneously with the WHO Global Alliance against Respiratory Diseases (GARD) Assembly and followed by the first ever Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) Patient World Conference, all in Rome.


Allergy & Asthma. Future of Patient Organisations
13th EFA Conference: 12-13 June 2009, Rome, Italy... 


More than one dozen modern projects on allergy and asthma with EFA involvement and best practice examples will be screened by top speakers. By doing so, the Conference will highlight conditions needed to manage future challenges of national and international allergy and asthma patient organisations. As part of the Conference, all participants have the opportunity to join global leaders on respiratory diseases at the GARD Assembly for their session on ‘Patient needs’.                                                                                               

The Conference starts on the 12th at the Conference hotel and the full conference day on the 13th will be held at the Italian Ministry of Health. The target audience is patients and their representatives, health professionals and public health and environment workers and volunteers interested in improving the care, participation and environment of people with allergy and asthma.

European Healthy Stadia Conference

September 21st, 2009

The inaugural European-wide Healthy Stadia conference takes place on Monday 21st September 2009 at the Arena and Convention Centre [ACC], Liverpool. This one day conference is aimed at public health agencies, sporting stadia and club representatives concerned with health promotion, facilities management, corporate and social responsibility and community engagement and sustainability across Europe. The Conference will be followed by a gala dinner at Anfield, home of Liverpool Football Club.

The event will mark the launch of the European Healthy Stadia network, and offers a key opportunity to share the learning, resources and best practice emerging from this two and a half year European Programme. The Healthy Stadia agenda aims to support stadia and clubs’ corporate objectives, helping to build a positive corporate profile, engage with a broader audience, uncover further business opportunities and to help secure additional sources of funding.

 

Communicate, Collaborate, Celebrate Conference, 5-6 October, Cardiff, Wales

Communicate, Collaborate, Celebrate is a two day tobacco control conference that recognises the importance of working in partnership across diverse agencies, of spreading the control message and of celebrating successes in reducing prevalence rates.

Confirmed speakers at the conference include Professor Gerard Hastings (University of Stirling), Professor, the Baroness Finlay of Llandaff (Professor of Palliative Care, Velindre Hospital), Ms Karla Sneegas (Executive Director, Indiana Tobacco Prevention and Cessation Agency), Dr Tony Jewell (Chief Medical Officer for Wales), Mr Oliver Smith (Department of Health).

Course: Treating Nicotine Addiction: What you can do to help your patients quit smoking

The Cyprus International Institute for the Environment and Public Health in association with the Harvard School Of Public Health are organising a continuing professional education course entitled Treating Nicotine Addiction: What you can do to help your patients quit smoking. The course takes place in Nicosia Cyprus from 7 to 8 April 2008. The course fee is € 300 and a number of scholarships are offered. The registration deadline is 20 March 2008. Health Education and Health Promotion: Theory and Practice

This summer course is to take place at the University of Maastricht, Netherlands from 23rd to 27th June 2008. The goal of the course is to provide an overview of important relevant theoretical perspectives, taking a motivational approach to behavior changes as the starting point, and how to translate this into practice.

4th IPCRG World Conference

The 4th IPCRG World Conference is due to be held in Seville, Spain, from 28 to 31 May 2008. IPCRG is the International Primary Care Respiratory Group. The conference will bring together around 700 primary care practitioners and one of the conference’s themes is to be smoking cessation.
